Types of Pictoral Projections
There are three kinds of pictorial projections: axonometric (which includes isometric, dimetric, and trimetric), oblique (which includes cabinet and cavalier), and perspective.
Axonometric projection is the projection of an object onto a picture plane with the object positioned so that it appears three-dimensional.
Oblique projection is the projection of an object onto a picture plane. Using this method, the front view is drawn true size, and the receeding surfaces are drawn on an angle to give it a pictorial appearance.
Perspective projection produces the most realistic pictorial. This method utilizes techniques that makes the object appear as we would view it with our own eyes.
In this course, because of time limitations, we will compromise by taking the middle of the road approach to pictorial drawings. We will focus on Axonometric projections. More specifically, we will focus on Isometrics.
